This is an app I have a lot of soft spots for. A creative idea with earnest goals for food saving and aiding in grocery shopping to make cook at home less work. However the first time user experience is horrible and I think of few simple tweaks could fix that.

Put most used systems into a higher level of the flow

  • Make it easier to find specific things

  • Remove or reduce redundant tabs/buttons

Pain Points

keeping the social interaction goals and design still prevalent, even if they are slightly counter to good UX design. This application has been out for a while and the last thing one wants to do is aggravate current users with a complete overhaul

Breaking the app down into a high level user flow, it becomes clear that to much of the navigation is buried behind secondary tabs while the main menu options may not be the most commonly used, especially for someone first getting into the app.

The main problem can be reduced to: User flow vs Us Journey. It is very clear this app was made by brilliant social media minds, but not from a personal user experience perspective.

  • There is a lack of icon continuity

  • Navigation is only prioritizing trending and search functions over the actual app features

  • Profile doesn't link to actual profile but a dashboard that features many duplicated pieces found on the landing screen
